Hello. I’m Katie Kajdan Bell, LPC, ATR.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist in Anchorage, Alaska. I have worked in both the arts community and mental health for almost 20 years. I decided to combine these two interests in 2006 when I moved to Seattle and attended graduate school at Antioch University Seattle. I received my M. A. in Clinical Psychology and Art Therapy in 2009 and headed back to Alaska.
Since then, I have received specialized training in several Somatic Therapies, ARC Trauma Treatment, CBT, and specific Eating Disorders treatment modalities including Exposure Therapy, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I continue to pursue educational opportunities to support increased efficacy of treatment and improved outcomes for my clients.
I provide clinically rooted, creative interventions. I work with adults as well as adolescents providing support and help through many issues including: anxiety, depression, social pressures, self-harm, PTSD, ADHD, Eating Disorders and more. The therapeutic approaches I use are well suited to working with many ages and needs, providing ways to process and communicate experiences as well as learn skills to better navigate your world. I strive to integrate cutting edge neuroscience research on the brain and body with evidence-based practices and artful individuality.
I currently serve on the board of directors for AKEDA (Alaska Eating Disorder Alliance) which works to connect Alaskans to education, resources, and supports for those impacted by Eating Disorders. I am also a member of the American Counseling Association, American Art Therapy Association, and International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.
When I am not at work I am painting, playing outside, or enjoying the challenges and joys of raising three children alongside my husband.
