Anchorage Young Cancer Coalition
Monthly Young Cancer Coalition support group for connection and creativity, “Cancer sucks, but at least I met you.”
In This Body
In This Body: Where I have been and Where I Am Going, is a 6 hour therapeutic art workshop. This workshop uses the powerful tool of body mapping to reconnect with your body and your identity through visual processing and story telling. Our bodies are the vessels that hold the experiences of our lives. Body mapping allows us to document, witness, and rewrite that story, transforming our relationship with self.
Join Katie Kajdan Bell, LPC, ATR, for a day of re-connection, reflection, and forging new paths. This workshop will be limited to 12 people.

Wintering Hearts
For anyone who has encountered grief or loss around the winter holidays, or for anyone that arrives to the darkest time of the year still processing the death of a loved one, the coming months of frenzied, holiday-themed cheer and blissed-out chaos can prove an altogether different and jarring experience than the holiday stories we're sold or advertised.

Open Studio Art Therapy
Open Studio introduces you to the therapeutic benefits of art making with a licensed professional counselor and registered art therapist in a relaxed community setting. This community group is ideal for adults looking to improve self-support skills, engage more deeply in their life, and build connection with others.
Open Studio will work with weekly themes that allow each participant to explore their individual needs in a group setting through the creative process. The facilitator will guide participants through verbal instructions, modeling, and materials guidance. Participants will learn to trust their own intuition to get the most from each session. Outcomes you might experience from session include:
Learn to identify important thoughts, feelings, and patterns by bringing the unconscious experience to the conscious image
Enjoy new set of skills to enhance your life
Process life experiences
Unlock creative potential and push past blocks
Learn to trust yourself and take safe risks
While highly therapeutic, these sessions are not therapy. Open Studio is designed to cater to the community in general; you don’t have to know anything about art or therapy to be a great fit! Participants do not need to bring anything as all the necessary tools and basic art materials are provided for each session. Participants are welcome to bring their own materials for personal preference or specific projects if they wish.

If this echoes your experience, or mirrors your apprehension about the weeks ahead, Wintering Hearts is designed with you in mind. Through a blend of group dialogue, readings, writing prompts, and other creative exercises, Wintering Hearts aims to give participants a safe place to explore the impacts of their individual experiences of grief over the course of the holiday season in a supportive, structured, and creative environment.
There is no requirement or expectation that participants must engage in all 8 sessions. There are individual drop-in fees per session, or one can pay to attend all 8 sessions at a lower rate. However, since space and materials will be limited, it will be helpful to get a rough idea of numbers starting out ahead of November 8. I encourage folks to reach out, bombard me with questions, and to sign up early.
The group will meet November 8, 15, & 29, December 6, 13, 20, & 27, and January 3, 2024.
I am happy to entertain questions and unpack details and specifics with providers or potential participants as needed. Please contact me at either jonathanbowertherapy@gmail.com, or at jonathan@jonathanbowertherapy.com. You’re also welcome to call my office line at 907-891-0217 if phone is easier.

Adult Open Studio Art Therapy
Engage with others in the creative process and unlock your inner wisdom.
Open Studio Art Therapy
Open Studio Art Therapy is a community focused therapeutic group hosted by Katie Kajdan Bell, LPC, ATR of www.arttherpayak.com. It is ideal for the individual adult (18+) who is looking to improve self-support skills, engage more deeply in their life, explore persistent themes, and build connection with others. Open Studio Art Therapy merges the role of the participant with that of the artist, teaching participants to become objective observers of self and therefore see more accurately both their struggles and their strengths. Open Studio Art Therapy supports emotional and psychological development by providing a concrete and tangible reflection of this process.
